Please read carefully before booking.

You agree to the following terms and conditions by booking with Silk Huis Amsterdam.

 

1. BOOKING AND CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • Please allow 24 hours for a booking or call us if you need a space at short notice, and we will try to accommodate you.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam does not accept cancellations.
  • Rebooking may be rescheduled within 90 days, subject to availability.
  • If the hirer wishes to cancel, Silk Huis Amsterdam is entitled to charge 100% of the original booking costs.
  • Bookings must be paid in full to create a confirmed booking slot within five working days, or someone else may book your time slot.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam reserves the right to cancel bookings without notice if necessary.

2. PAYMENT:

  • Silk Huis Amsterdam asks for payment upfront for convenience; please contact us if you prefer to pay via an alternative method.
  • All bookings will be confirmed by email.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that you receive the confirmation email and the correct details.
  • If payment has not been received in due time, someone else may book your time slot.
  • If an invoice is contested, the hirer must make its observations within 24 hours of receipt at the latest, as evidenced by the postmark. After this deadline, no claim will be accepted.
  • In the event of unfulfilled commitments, the return of unpaid bills, bank charges, etc., and the costs of litigation and legal proceedings, they will be borne by the hirer who undertakes to do so.
  • In the event of a dispute, the Dutch courts shall have sole jurisdiction, even in the event of multiple defendants or the introduction of third parties.

3. BOOKING DETAILS:

  • The hirer is responsible for ensuring that all booking details, including time, are correct at the point of booking.
  • In the event of a mistake or failure with our booking system, either technical or human, Silk Huis Amsterdam will not be held liable for any resulting losses under any circumstances.

4. SET-UP AND PACK-DOWN TIME:

  • When booking, please allow yourself time for your set-up, including hair and makeup, and pack-down time.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam does ask you to leave the studio as you find it and take all your belongings with you when you leave. We have back-to-back bookings, so please ensure you leave the studio promptly and in a fit state for the next hirer.

5. LATE ARRIVAL:

  • If you are more than 30 minutes late for your booking, we will assume you are no longer attending and will leave.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam will not refund your booking fee in the event of a no-show.

6. OCCUPANCY TIME:

  • The occupancy time of the rented studio can be invoiced as follows:

- per day from 9.30 a.m. to 08:00 p.m.

- before 9.30 a.m. and after 08.00 p.m., in overtime, if the average occupancy time is exceeded, in night hours if the rental begins in the evening. Please email us at hi@silkhuis.com for inquiry.

- on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, according to a special tariff

  • If the hirer wishes to start before 7 a.m. or finish after 10 p.m., we reserve the right to charge a cab fee for the staff.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam considers that every hour started is due, which applies as long as the hirer is still in the studio. Automatically, extra charges will be invoiced in this case.
  • If your booking extends into an unsolicited hour, you will be automatically invoiced for an extra 30 minutes: please check the Prices.

7. ADDITIONAL REQUESTS:

  • Any additional request made by the hirer before or during the service will entail additional costs and will be invoiced extra. A simple verbal request validates this request.
  • If you want to bring a pet or animal into the studio, don't hesitate to get in touch with us out of courtesy. We reserve the right to charge the owner for any mess, loss or damage caused by the pet.

8. SHOOT TIME:

  • The hirer is responsible for booking the correct time for their shoot at the point of booking. Should a shoot run over or fail to complete its shot list, Silk Huis Amsterdam cannot be held responsible in any way.
  • Bookings commence at the time stated on the calendar; therefore, the hirer or any colleague can only access the studio by this time. Should any crew member/hirer arrive early, Silk Huis Amsterdam reserves the right to refuse entry and ask them to return at the agreed booking start time.

9. EQUIPMENT CHECK:

  • A complete equipment check will occur before and after the studio session. Please be aware that any damage caused by you or any of your team will be charged, depending on the damage.

10. STUDIO EQUIPMENT:

  • Please note that the studio is not soundproofed. Silk Huis Amsterdam shares a building with other creatives and businesses. Therefore, the hirer should be aware of the presence of neighbours and is expected not to cause any (noise) nuisance.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam assumes you are comfortable using the studio equipment safely and professionally. Please let us know if you need any support when making your booking.
  • All equipment provided by Silk Huis Amsterdam is in good working order. It is the responsibility of the hirer to alert studio staff to any issues with equipment on arrival.
  • The studio is not responsible for any resulting losses if problems are not reported immediately.
  • Our studio equipment list is subject to change at any time without notice.

11. ABUSE TOWARDS STUDIO STAFF:

  • We have a zero-tolerance policy on abuse towards our staff. If we discover that our staff has been treated improperly, we reserve the right to cancel your booking without a refund and ban you from using our studio again.

12. INSURANCE:

  • The hirer or persons using the studio must have suitable insurance to cover the potential loss, ’ potential loss, damage or theft. The studio will only insure and protect its equipment and facilities.
  • The hirer or persons using the studio must have suitable insurance to cover consequential loss of profit and other risks.
  • The hirer or persons using the studio must ensure that their Public Liability insurance is operative for all persons in the studio during the hours of use to cover any accident, injury or death.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam will not be held responsible for any resulting losses or damages.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam will not be held responsible for any resulting accident, injury or death.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam will not be held responsible for any injuries of any kind or any severity obtained by anyone using the studio for any purpose. This includes but is not limited to, the hirer or any persons using the studio during the booking period.

13. LIABILITY:

  • Silk Huis Amsterdam shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or injury to any person or property occurring on the premises.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam shall not be liable for any resulting accident, injury or death.
  • The hirer acknowledges that Silk Huis Amsterdam has no liability whatsoever. Consequently, the hirer abandons all recourse towards Silk Huis Amsterdam concerning:- Bodily injury which could intervene in the buildings of Silk Huis Amsterdam with any person present on his behalf- Material damage (deterioration of costumes, apparatuses, accessories, documents or any other good) and immaterial- Thefts: this significant clause would involve a police report.
  • Any damage, loss or theft of items hired by or belonging to the hirer will be entirely their responsibility.
  • The studio and its security are the hirer's responsibility during the booking.
  • All items in the studio must be returned to the same place at the end of the booking as they were found on arrival. If any item is unaccounted for, damaged or stolen, Silk Huis Amsterdam reserves the right to charge the total retail value for a brand-new replacement.
  • Should any equipment break or fail for any reason before or during the booking, Silk Huis Amsterdam is not liable to provide an immediate replacement. They will not be held responsible for any delays or losses caused.
  • The cost of hiring the studio does not include any insurance or protection for the hirer's equipment before, during or after the booking period. All belongings are entirely the hirer's responsibility.

14. CATERING:

  • Silk Huis Amsterdam provides coffee and tea free of charge. Should the hirer wish to bring food into the studio, they must take the necessary precautions to ensure that food waste and mess are kept to a minimum and are entirely removed before the end of the studio booking / placed in the bins provided. A cleaning fee of EUR20 or above may be charged if the studio is untidy. If you use food or liquids/paints in your shoot, please put plastic sheets down first; the cleaning fee may be agreed upon and arranged upfront.
  • If a booking has generated excessive waste, we reserve the right to charge for a waste removal service to dispose of this.

15. DELIVERY OF GOODS:

  • Shopping and decorations must be delivered at the earliest the day before the shoot after 5 p.m.
  • The hirer must inform us in advance so that we can provide sufficient storage space.
  • We reserve the right to refuse delivery if there is insufficient storage space to receive the day before the shoot.
  • For security and storage reasons, the hirer is asked to collect the shopping or equipment as soon as the shoot ends.
  • Any equipment or accessories not collected within 48 hours of the end of the booking will give rise to the payment by the hirer of a daily storage fee calculated based on the volume stored.
  • For safety reasons, the hirer is reminded that the responsibility for the couriers they use relies on them. Consequently, they undertake to drop off and collect their mail, as couriers are not authorised to circulate on the building’s premises.
  • In the hirer’s absence, if Silk Huis Amsterdam is noted on the letters and delivery slips, this does not engage its responsibility, and its sole purpose is to confirm the passage of the couriers to their companies and in no way constitutes receipt or acceptance of the goods.
  • We reserve the right to refuse parcels without reference or parcels of very high value. In such cases, we will invite the courier to return on the day of delivery to hand over the parcel to the hirer.

16. FORCE MAJEURE:

  • Silk Huis Amsterdam is released from any rental obligation, even if confirmed, for any fortuitous event or force majeure such as flood, fire, total or partial strike, or lockout, without this list being limitative.
  • In force majeure, the hiring company can interrupt, move, or cancel the agreement. Force majeure includes if the execution of the contract is prevented, temporarily or otherwise, by circumstances beyond the hire company's reasonable control, such as illness, accidents, storm damage, leakage, fire, pandemic or government measures.

17. GOVERNING LAW:

  • These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Dutch courts.
  • All disputes will be settled by the competent court in the district where the hiring company is located unless a statutory obligation stipulates otherwise.
  • Contrary to the statutory limitation periods, the limitation period for all claims and defences against the hiring company and third parties involved is 12 months.

18. AMENDMENTS:

  • The hirer, whether or not the person who made the booking, is responsible for notifying all persons who will be present during the booked time slot of the internal rules.
  • The studio can be hired for alternative uses, such as private events and workshops. However, we do not allow the studio to be booked for parties. Please contact us in advance to inform us what you would like to use the studio for before booking.
  • Silk Huis Amsterdam may amend these terms and conditions at any time without notice.
  • Young adults (under 16) are to be accompanied by an adult.
  • This site is the sole property of Silk Huis Amsterdam. Any reproduction, even partial, of this site is strictly forbidden without the express authorization of the publication manager. Documents may be copied for information purposes only, for private use.

The terms: ‘we’, ‘our’ and ‘the studio’ used in this document represent Silk Huis Amsterdam as a business, including but not limited to its staff, premises and equipment.

Where is Silk Huis located?

You can find Silk Huis at Keizersgracht 633E, 1017 DS Amsterdam.

Is there a host or anyone present in the studio?

A host usually works at the studio throughout your booking. They'll be there to greet you on your arrival, ensure you have everything you need and answer any questions. They'll then be out of your way, but still available within the studio should you have any further questions or needs.

What are the opening hours?

Our opening hours vary, but we try to be flexible to meet all needs. You can see up to date booking hours on our booking page. Or you can always contact us to schedule an appointment that works for you

What happens if my booking runs over the scheduled time?

If your booking runs over the scheduled time, you can book an additional 30 minutes to complete your work or more time based on availability. Please let us know if you need more time.

Can I cancel my booking?

All bookings are non-refundable. However, we're happy to support you by allowing you to reschedule your booking if we're informed 24 hours in advance (based on availability).

Is parking available?

Street parking is available without reservation. Indoor parking is available at the following locations within walking distance:

  • Oneparking Grachtengordel (180 meters)
  • Parkbee Spiegelhof (350 meters)
  • APCOA PARKING Prins & Keizer (400 meters)

Is food and drink available?

We have tap water within the studio which you can have by default. Anything else we'd suggest you make your own arrangements or ask the host for any recommendations.

How is the natural lighting in the studio?

The studio is available over two floors. On the first floor, lighting is mostly on the North and West. On the second floor, lighting is available from the West and East. As we all know, sunny days are an expensive commodity in the Netherlands, but we do NOT provide free professional studio lighting.

Can I bring my own photographer?

Yes, because we do not provide an in-house photographer. Therefore, we encourage you to bring your own photographer to our studio. We welcome collaborations with external professionals and are open to working with your preferred photographer.

Do you offer special rates for long-term or regular bookings?

If you'd like to book the space on a regular occasion or a longer term basis then please contact us directly to discuss special rates.
